We know that God’s love is for us—and for all creation. Because of Christ’s love, we hold hope for each other and pursue the flourishing of all things.

We believe that what unites us is a deep love for the Divine and one another. Jesus looking people choose love over fear, including over excluding. All humans of every ethnicity, orientation, gender, and age are welcome to serve, lead, and participate to the fullest capacity here. Everyone belongs.

As a good and beautiful community, we participate in Christ’s work of restoration and reconciliation here on earth. We see, experience, and marvel at the unique and powerful design of creation. about us

In 2015 we started a faith community where people could experience a good God and live flourishing lives. We believe deeply that the Divine is in every single thing in this universe. From your friends’ laughter to your neighbor who loves to wave, to seeing Lake Superior as you drive over the hill—God is in those spaces.

If this is true, then every single person, place, and thing in this world belongs and is deeply connected. That’s what we’re about. Helping one another see this goodness in them, help draw out that love in others, and do our work to make this place somewhere everyone can thrive. We take the Bible incredibly seriously, but not always literally, to inspire us and give us wisdom in leading Christ-like lives. We celebrate wisdom over certainty, love over fear, and lives lived to the fullest.

Kris and Nikki Sauter

Kris and Nikki Sauter are the founding pastors of the Neighborhood Church. Nikki was born and raised in Cloquet and is a proud graduate of Cloquet High School. Go Lumberjacks! Kris was born and raised in Carlton and has a life-long goal to one day be mayor of Carlton (he calls himself that anyway). He is an uber proud graduate of Carlton High School. They have 3 tenacious children who, along with their parents, bike, hike, walk and run all over their fabulous town of Esko, MN.
